Adelaide Sea Dragons
Getting Started
On your first introduction to dragon boating, we ask you contact one of the Coaches or Captains to advise you will be attending, and arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled training session.
This will enable one of our Coaching staff to run through safety procedures, basic technique to get you started, completion of a DBSA New Paddler Form 2008-9 and a Club Pre-Activity Registration Form as part of the Club's duty of care and the opportunity to introduce you to the Committee and other Club members to ensure you are made to feel welcome.
Dragon Boating is a water sport. You will get wet!
What you need to bring
- T-Shirt or singlet top, plus shorts in cooler weather, many paddlers wear a light-weight, long sleeved spray jacket or similar.
- It is essential you wear shoes. These not only give you good grip on the bottom of the boat, but are a good safety precaution for getting in and out of the boat. Low cost 'boat shoes' are available from Big W for less than $10, if you don't already have a old pair of trainers you don't mind getting wet.
- A bottle of water (essential)
- A towel and set of clothes to change into after showering (if required)
- Sunscreen in hot weather, a woollen hat if it's colder
- Some small change for a social drink afterwards
What the club provides
- The 13metre, 20 seat dragon boat
- A training paddle
- All the coaching you need
- A beautiful training venue
- The fun of a very social, but successful Club
What it costs
